Apple iPhone

Consumer 3G iPhone Price: $199
Apple Subsidiary from Carrier: $300
Physical Cost of the 3G iPhone: $173

$199 + $300 – $173 = $326

Disregarding developmental costs (which are substantial), Apple is earning approximately $326 per 3G iPhone that is sold at $199. That’s absurd!

3G iPhone will cost just $173

Skewed Media

I was just poking around the USA Today website, and came across this “Candidate Match Game“. Seemed interesting enough, so I gave it a shot. All I can say is, holy cow, I can not believe how loaded and skewed the questions are to support the democratic candidate (Obama). Here are just a few of my favorites:

  • The president should maintain open lines of communication with nations hostile to our interests.” – Honestly, no one in their right mind disagrees with this… but if you state that you do agree… the tool puts you in support of Obama because McCain has stated that sometimes this just doesn’t work in the real world.
  • The United States needs to keep a military presence in Iraq for decades to come.” – Again, this is a jab at a McCain speech were he states that we can’t just pull out of Iraq immediately. Using the phrase “decades to come” is extraordinarily divisive.
  • The president’s judicial nominations should interpret the constitution strictly and narrowly.” – The use of the word “narrowly” here is certainly not unintentional… it has a connotation of “limited”, “outdated”, and “naive”.

If you aren’t outraged by the American Medias liberal agenda, you aren’t paying enough attention.

PS: I’m currently in support of Obama, though that’s subject to change.

Ubuntu on Virtual PC

As a followup to last night’s post, this document will walk you through the installation of the latest Ubuntu build (8.04) within a Virtual PC environment. I had some trouble figuring this out, so I hope that my posting this here will help anyone else out there who likes playing around in different operating systems without pain of rebooting into a new OS.

Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

I’ve seeming always wanted to run a virtual OS within my primary OS, but have been stuck with VMWare to date. While VMWare works, it’s sluggish and doesn’t obey any GUI guidelines (a major sticking point for me). Well, Microsoft recently released “Microsoft Virtual PC 2007″, an entirely free… extremely well written virtual machine.

Go check it out… it blows VMWare out of the water!
