eeePC

I recently purchased an ASUS eeePC as a portable suppliment to my desktop. I must say, so far, I’m extremely impressed. The device is rock solid, uber small, and more than capible of everything I need it for. If you want to read more about this device, check out the newegg page here.

The primary reason I’m writing this post is because, while I really like the “easy mode” iceWM system that this device comes with, I hate the faux Windows XP windowing theme. I know that additional themes can be downloaded for iceWM, but none of them have the extra gui data for the eeePC specific elements. So… I’ve created a theme of my own!

You can download my theme here.

Install by extracting to: /usr/share/icewm/themes/

This will overwrite the default AsusSunset theme, so simply navigate to “settings” “personalize” and change theme to “Sunset”.

Additionally, you can create a folder named “.icewm” in your home folder (/home/usr/) and place this file in it. That will create multiple desktops, change the time to 12 hour (instead of 24), as well as several other UI tweaks.

Let me know what you think!

UPDATE: You can download this file and run the included shell script which will set everything aforementioned up for you. That is all.
